Audi Takes on BMW and Mercedes-Benz

Audi in India is on a roll. Audi is stepping on gas in India to close the gap between its German compatriots plying in the Indian car market. Audi India, which is a sister concern of the Volkswagen Group has seen a record 59 per cent of growth in 2009 selling 1,550 cars in this year compared to 974 cars in the last fiscal year. Audi India has continued to record strong growth all year around. In spite of the challenging market conditions, it has successfully managed to surpass the annual target of 1,500 cars.

The scene is quite indifferent in the global market as well. Audi AG has clearly close enough to fill the gap between the itself, Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

Mr. Benoit Tiers, Managing Director of Audi India is on cloud number nine with the robust sales performance of Audi. The sales target that the company had aimed at the start of the year has been far crossed. This itself indicated that Audi as a brand has arrived in India and Mr. Tiers attributes the robust sales of Audi cars in India to the core brand philosophy of Vorsprung durch Technik combined with the motivation provided by the record sales figures that has soared above the sales charts.

This remarkable progress for Audi India is attributed to the new models launch in the country in this year like that of the new Audi A6, SUVs Audi Q5 and the new Q7 and introduction of three new engines to the existing range of the Audi A4 assisted by expansion and openings of new dealerships in India.

The portfolio of Audi in India currently comprises of the new Audi Q7, the Audi Q5, the new Audi A6, the Audi A8, the Audi A4, the Audi TT and the super sports car Audi R8 that are available at 12 dealerships across the country. Audi will also launch its new Audi A8 super-luxury sedan at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo which starts from Jan 4th 2010 and runs up till Jan 11th.

2011 Audi A8 vs 2011 BMW 7 Series

2011 Audi A8 vs 2011 BMW 7 Series

Luxury Cars

www.autorivals.net

The Audi A8 and BMW 7 Series are the most recently revised luxury cars. Lexus and Mercedes-Benz’s flagships are aging gracefully but now need a revision to keep up with the Audi and BMW. Each one brings new technology, updated performance, and new designs. Audi even claims its new A8 is “the sportiest sedan in the luxury class.” That’s a pretty bold and brash statement considering what it’s up against.

Speedhunter Awards, Part II

Voting has continued to take place for the best cars of 2009 on Speedhunters. Now that some new categories have been announced, let’s take a look at my votes.

Demo Car Of The Year

This was a really hard category with lots of great cars to choose from. For me the decision came pretty quickly once I saw the Ericsson M3 nominated. Ericsson’s demo car represents a scene that is fast-growing in Japan, imports. Many of the Japanese have moved on from their own domestic cars to European cars and with shops like Studie AG and Ruah-Welt, it’s easier than ever to build an import that’s just as powerful and stylish as the Japanese domestics. The Ericsson M3 has to be one of the cleanest Euros I’ve ever seen (JDM or not), love this car.

Professional Drift Car Of The Year

Above all else, drift cars have to be cool. It doesn’t matter how powerful they are, all that matters is how the look and sound going sideways. With competition littered in RX7’s and Silvia’s it’s so awesome to see a car like the Ridox Aristo competing. Even though Orido and his Toyota haven’t had the greatest season in D1, this remains one of my favorite cars in the series. A gigantic saloon like the Aristo really has no business going sideways, but that 2JZ power plant says otherwise. Orido is always in high spirits regardless of how well he’s doing and he definitely rocks his car harder than anyone in D1.

Time Attack Car Of The Year

I thought the demo car category was tough, that was nothing compared to choosing time attack of the year. This category was littered with absolutely insane cars from the US and abroad. A few years back it would have been limited to Japanese builds but recently the British and Americans have been building their own monsters that would definitely give the Japanese a run for their money. Typically with time attack, I get most excited about the Subarus. Maybe because I drive one, I have my loyalties. I decided to vote for the Team Tarzan Tomei/Cusco STi. Mitsubishi purists, don’t deny the badge, this thing is no slouch. When you have the best engine builder and aero companies in the world coming together to do a car, watch out. The Tomei/Cusco STi was built to be a Cyber Evo killer and even though it didn’t defeat it this time, Tarzan and his STi placed third overall at Tsukuba this month. Once all the kinks are worked out, I’d be willing to bet this thing could be the new king.

More to come.

News >>> SSR Newly Released Professor SP3

I have always been a fan of SSR wheels from the classic Reverse Mesh to the Professor MS1’s. Now SSR has just released the new 3-piece SSR Professor SP3’s. This wheel looks awesome and would love to get a set myself. Would look good on a street beast or a track beast. Currently come in 3 colors that are listed on their site, silver, black, and super black coat. Comes in custom sizes as always so one can obtain that hellaflush look. Photos are from SSR, go check them out for the rest of the fine line of wheels.

Looks good on Euros too.
As well as VIP type vehicles.
